Ballymena Borough Council have widely supported Kellswater Flute Band in their proposal for a cultural trip to Gibraltar in the summer of 2008.

At the recent Cultural Services Committee meeting, two representatives from the band gave members a presentation on the history of the band, their success and why they want to go to Gibraltar.

Band Chairman David Mc Donald gave the presentation and answered questions from various Councillors on the proposals, many of those present congratulated the band on its turnout and musical ability and for it support for various functions in the Ballymena Borough.

Councillor Deirdre Nelson, who was chairing the meeting, said there was a lot of support for the trip from the Councillors.

Councillor Adger proposed that council support this project financially and this was seconded by Alderman H Nicholl.
