Kellswater Flute Band performed recently at the Flute Band Association’s 48th Annual Contest in Lisburn. The band secured First Place in the keenly contested Grade 2 Section and was also awarded Best Percussion.  The Conductor’s prize went to Kellswater’s Glen Houston.

Overall, seventeen flute bands from Northern Ireland and Scotland, comprising around 350 amateur musicians, performed throughout the day, showing an increase on the 2007 numbers.

Both Adjudicators praised the bands for the standard of playing, with some of the piccolo players being singled out for their high quality performances especially in the Melody and Grade 4 sections.

Presentation of awards will take place at the Association’s Annual Dinner, held in The La Mon Hotel & Country Club, Castlereagh on Sat 5th April 2008.
